Course Schedule and Assessment The course consists of 18 lectures (totaling 36 hours) held from September to December. Assessment Students will complete both an oral and a written examination in December 2025. The oral examination will be conducted online. The written examination will take place either in an examination room or during a scheduled class session. The first retake will be organized within a month after the first attempt. In addition to the examinations, students are required to: Pass two vocabulary tests Submit two written assignments: A description of an event A curriculum vitae (CV)

Toteutuksen valinnaiset suoritustavat

Students should attend to the lessons and take the exam. Ask the teacher if you already have the required skills and you want to prove your competence. If you have a diploma about your Finnish language skills: RPL application in eServices If you don't have any diploma about your Finnish language skills: ask possibility to prove your competence via RPL Exam

Arviointimenetelmät ja arvioinnin perusteet

By the end of the course, the student is expected to be able to perform at language proficiency level A2.2. The final course grade is based on the average of the oral and written exam scores. In addition, the student must successfully complete the vocabulary tests and submit two written assignments. Active participation in class is required, with a minimum attendance rate of 75%.

The student - communicates in some situations in everyday life - recognizes the topics in a conversation, easy general speech and text concerning everyday life - has the ability to guess the meaning of some unfamiliar words in a text or in a conversation in a clear context - writes short and simple texts on familiar and everyday topics - knows some common vocabulary (e.g. running errands, traditions and holidays, and education and work) - knows some common structures (e.g. verb tenses, plural nouns and some other noun structures, and different sentence types)

In addition to the lower grade requirements, the student - communicates in some official settings - writes short texts on familiar and everyday topics with little errors - uses some common vocabulary and structures

In addition to the lower grade requirements, the student - recognizes some details in short texts and communicative situations concerning everyday life - communicates in everyday life and in some work-related communicative situations - uses the most common cohesive devices

Opetusmenetelmät

The student will strengthen and expand their basic skills in Finnish language at the level A2. The student can communicate with simple sentences in everyday life and some professional communicative situations. They understand general speech and recognize the topics in a conversation. They have learnt to guess the meaning of unfamiliar words and categories of words. The student is able to write short texts on familiar and everyday topics with the most common vocabulary and structures.
