Student workload

The course is recommended to be completed in six weeks, and for each week a sequence of materials and assignments is given, with an average time recommendation. Ultimately, however, it is up to the student to decide the pace of completion according to their own circumstances.

The course is divided into subject areas, which is also the order of progression: 1. Research process 2. Quantitative research methods and analyses 3. Qualitative research methods and analysis 4. Action research 5. Literature review as a research method

The student describes terminology concerning research and development methods correctly but narrowly. The student describes research approaches and methods by using reliable sources appropriately. The student has satisfactory knowledge about qualitative and quantitative data collection and data analysis. The student is familiar with the recommendations concerning research ethics.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student uses terminology concerning research and development methods fluently. The student compares different research approaches and methods by using reliable critically chosen sources. The student has versatile knowledge about qualitative and quantitative data collection and data analysis. The student utilizes the recommendations concerning research ethics with expertise.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student uses the terminology concerning research and development methods extensively and with expertise. The student analyses and compares different research approaches and methods and justifies their views in an expert way by using reliable, high-level sources which are critically chosen. The student has comprehensive knowledge about qualitative and quantitative data collection and data analysis. The student acts in a responsible and proactive manner regarding research ethics.

Teaching methods

The course is implemented online as self-paced online learning during 13.1.-18.5.2025 The course includes independent working and working with pair in your own phase. The course also includes 1 online workshop/person. There are 2 online workshops during this course. You can choose on them. - wk 13 Tue 25.3. at 16-19 - wk 18Tue 29.4.. at 16-19 NOTE! THERE NEEDS TO BE AT LEAST 6 STUDENTS ENROLLED TO THE WORKSHOP. If there is less than 6 students enrolled for the workshop, it will be cancelled.
