Failed= 0 The student - is not able to describe the structure of the care and service provision system for acute and critically ill patients or the collaboration between authorities. - does not know how to meet basic needs of acutely and critically ill patients. - skills and knowledge of acute-nursing are lacking and patient safety is jeopardized. - does not recognize changes in patient's vital functions. - does not fully consider asepsis. - jeopardizes his/her own safety and the patient's. - repeatedly makes mistakes in drug and fluid care. - avoids nursing and learning situations. - does not seek contact with patients. - despite feedback, dresses and behaves inappropriately. - does not respect confidentiality. - collaboration skills are poor. - study motivation is poor.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

1-2 The student - is able to describe some elements in the care and service provision system for acutely and critically ill patients, and the collaboration between authorities. - under supervision, recognizes changes and problems in vital functions and knows how to carry out nursing interventions to help patients with respiratory or cardiac failure. - under supervision, is competent to plan and carry out safely intravenous fluid and drug care of acutely and critically ill patients. - under supervision, is competent to apply nursing technology and to give reports. - under supervision, is competent to encounter acutely and critically ill patients and their next-of-kin. - under supervision, knows how to counsel acutely and critically ill patients.

The student - is able to describe the care and service provision system for acutely and critically ill patients, and the collaboration between authorities. - recognizes changes and problems in vital functions and knows how to carry out nursing interventions to help patients with respiratory or cardiac failure. - under supervision, is competent to plan and carry out safely intravenous fluid and drug care of acutely and critically ill patients and to evaluate the effectiveness of the care. - under supervision, is competent to apply nursing technology and to give reports. - is competent to encounter acutely and critically ill patients and their next-of-kin professionally. - is able to counsel acutely and critically ill patients.

The student -is able to describe the structure of the care and service provision system for acute and critically ill patients, and the collaboration between authorities. - recognizes changes and problems in vital functions and implements appropriate nursing interventions. - knows how to carry out nursing interventions to help patients with respiratory or cardiac failure and evaluate the effectiveness of the care. - is competent to plan and carry out safely intravenous fluid and drug care for acutely or critically ill patients and to evaluate the effectiveness of the care. - is competent to apply nursing technology and to give reports. - is competent to encounter acutely and critically ill patients and their next-of-kin professionally. - is able to counsel acutely and critically ill patients.

Further information

SeAMK Student: During the Summer you can complete theory independently. Drug calculations, Skills labs, simulation and exam with your own group. Recommended that the student has 100ECTS when taking this course. Internal medical diseases, surgical nursing and medication and fluid care must be completed before taking this course.
