Learning outcomes

The student will learn the most common materials used in building.Their properties,applications and effects on health and environment. In addition they will learn their manufacturing, composition and properties in regard of design,construction, use and long term durability.

Content

The most common building materials, products, manufacturing, properties, chemical and physical behavior. Materials time dependency properties, thermal conductivity, moisture and air sealing capacity. Influence of moisture and energy consumption of materials manufacturing. Materials: wood,concrete, steel,copper, aluminium, bricks,natural stone, plaster, class, bitumen, gypsum and paints.
