Learning outcomes

Student understands the concept of responsibility and is able to ponder food production from different perspectives of responsibility. Student knows the factors that affect the health and productivity of the soil and field. Student understands the importance of nutrient cycling and diversity for crop production and its environmental impact. Student identifies measures related to the responsibility of cultivation at a farm level. Student understands the importance of animal welfare as part of responsible food production. Student knows the natural behavior of production animals and is able to observe and evaluate factors related to animal welfare in production conditions. Student understands the connection between biosafety, food security and animal welfare. Student knows the main methods of the prevention of infectious animal diseases and the principles of responsible use of antibiotics.

Itsenäisesti verkossa suoritettava nonstop -opintojakso. Itsenäisen opiskelun tukena käytetään luentotallenteita ja verkkomateriaalia. Opintojaksolla hyödynnetään Uudistavan viljelyn e-opistoa ja osana opintojaksoa voi suorittaa e-opiston sertifikaatin: https://www.uudistavaviljely.fi/

Internship and working life connections

Opintojaksolla hyödynnetään Baltic Sea Action Groupin Uudistavan viljelyn e-opistoa. Bioturvallisuus -osio on toteutettu yhteistyössä Terve karja kannattaa -hankkeen kanssa. Opintojaksolla pohditaan vastuullisuutta todellisen maatilan näkökulmasta.
