Objective

Students progresses with patient’s interview, examination, analyse patient’s symptoms, differential diagnosis, clinical reasoning and treatment of patients. Students report the patient case concisely. Students are capable of independent decision-making and can make an osteopathic diagnosis independently while being aware of their limits of competence.Students are capable of creative problem solving and development of work methods. They can assess their work and competence as well as change the treatment plan if so required and make decisions concerning treatment in unexpected situations. Students are able to create personal connections in the work environment and act as experts of their field in these networks. Student designs a service to contribute for their entrepreneurship. They possess the necessary language skills required in their work and its development. They embrace multicultural cooperation. Students plan and implement marketing, sales and take part in various client service activities. Students participate in planning and developing osteopaths work. They can act as part of the multiprofessional team. Students are capable of acquiring, handling and assessing knowledge related to their work in a critical way. Students are capable of taking responsibility for their group’s learning and sharing the acquired knowledge.
Symptoms and signs 2: 1 cr
Students recall previously learned medical subjects and know how to combine them into a holistic differential diagnosis serving clinical practice. They assess patients’ general status appropriately and effectively as part of patients’ examination and follow-up. Students identify the risky ’red flag’ symptoms and are able to refer their clients to further treatment if necessary.

Content

Interview, observation and examination routines. Differential diagnosis. Osteopathic diagnosis and treatment. Written referral for further treatment in english. Working at the reception. Marketing, sales and client service skills. Multi professional problem solving. Service design skills.
Symptoms and signs 2: 1 cr
Examination of patient’s general state of health. Respiratory, vascular, lymph node, reproductive organ and intestine symptoms calling for osteopath’s action.

Location and time

Supervised clinical practice in HyMy-kylä learning environment, more detaled days seen in schecule.

Materials

Student is using all previous courses material; anatomy, physiology, functional anatomy, pathophysiology, and so on.

Clinical practice handbook, that is found in TEAMS HyMy Village Team / Osteopaths in the channel file.

MATERIALS and assignments created by the teacher are protected under the Copyright law (404/61), and the teacher holds copyright to these creations. Assignments and materials may not be used other than in your own studies. The public distribution of these is only allowed with the permission of the teacher.

In case the student has received a decision for individual support, which can affect the completion of the study unit, the student should be in touch with the responsible teacher of the study unit directly after the ending of the enrolment period.
