Disability and Chronic Illness (5 ECTS)

Objective

Students will understand the phenomena related to disability, chronic illness and special education. They will identify the uniqueness of client groups and their special needs. Students know key fundamental concepts, legislation and services. They know the current debate related to practices in the area. They will be able to reflect on their own professional relationship related to the theme.

Content

Disability, chronic illness, and special difficulties and related special needs. Experiencing and encountering special needs. Finnish disability policy principles and challenges. Disability legislation as a safeguard for the fundamental rights of the individual. Guiding principles of organising special education and disability services.

Further information

Toteutus on tarkoitettu ensisijaisesti sosiaalialan tutkinto-ohjelman ryhmälle SXH20K2. Opiskelijalla tulee olla suoritettuna n. ensimmäisen lukuvuoden opinnot.
Opintojaksototeutukselle voidaan ottaa enintään 25 opiskelijaa. Ensisijaisesti toteutukselle otetaan SXH20K2 ryhmän opiskelijat. Mikäli opintojaksolle voidaan valita muiden saapumisryhmien opiskelijoita, valinta tehdään suoritettujen opintopisteiden perusteella (eniten pisteitä omaavat ovat etusijalla)..
