Objective

This 8 day study tour is designed to introduce the students to Russian business, academic atmospheres and culture at the very spot in St. Petersburg. After completion of this course the students will be able to have an understanding of the operation of foreign and domestic companies in St. Petersburg, to know how business transactions are carried on and to have an understanding of the study environments at both technical and business universities in Russia.

Content

The course consists of a briefing meeting, Study Tour to St. Petersburg, and writing a report on a topic related to the tour or St. Petersburg or Russia in general

The highlights of the technical programme are visits companies which are selected to represent both purely Russian companies and foreign comapnies active in Russia.

The academic part of the programme consists of university visits such as SPbSPU (St. Petersburg State Politechnical University) and SPbSUE (St. Petersburg State University of Economics ) .

The Study Tour also has a cultural programme e.g visits to museums.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student particpates in the excursions and writes an acceptable report that is based on day-by-day events e.g. a tour diary.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student actively participates in all the excursions and writes an analytic report on a tour related topic.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student actively participates in all the excursions and writes an analytic report on a tour related topic. In addition to this, it is required that the report has new ideas or fresh views.

Qualifications

None. In case of overbooking students from Degree programmes in Applications and business have preference.
