Objective

After completing this course the students know the operations and design principles of modern switched internetworks. Also the students can design and implement large scale fault tolerant switched internetworks.

Content

Switched technologies on OSI layers 2 and 3, virtual local area networks, inter-VLAN routing, fault tolerant routing (HSRP, VRRP and GLBP). Device selection, advanced spanning tree protocols (RSTP and MST). Fault tolerant local area networks and security aspects in switched internetworks.

Understands the basics of fault tolerant local area networks and advanced spanning tree protocols used in local area networks. Understands the functionality of multilayer switching.

Can design and implement fault tolerant switched local area networks.
