Objective
After completing this course the students know the operations and design principles of modern switched internetworks. Also the students can design and implement large scale fault tolerant switched internetworks.
Content
Switched technologies on OSI layers 2 and 3, virtual local area networks, inter-VLAN routing, fault tolerant routing (HSRP, VRRP and GLBP). Device selection, advanced spanning tree protocols (RSTP and MST). Fault tolerant local area networks and security aspects in switched internetworks.
Evaluation scale
0-5
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Understands the basics of fault tolerant local area networks and advanced spanning tree protocols used in local area networks. Understands the functionality of multilayer switching.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Can configure fault tolerant switched local area networks, multilayer switching and routing.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Can design and implement fault tolerant switched local area networks.
