Objective

On completion of the course the student will have an overall understanding of the energy use in different branches of industry, of the energy intensive unit processes and of the HVAC technical possibilities to improve the energy efficiency of industrial company. He knows the industrial refrigerating systems and their operating principals. He knows the basics of mass transfer and drying technology.
The student knows how pipeworks are integrating different production systems and their share in industrial investment projects. The student should be able to plan and dimension different kind of pipelines. He should also be able to evaluate, which piping materials will be best suited to different purposes.

Content

Energy use in industry, unit processes. Industrial HVAC-technology and refrigeration. Drying, evaporation, basics of mass transfer. Industrial pipe systems. Concepts, standards and public authority regulations. Pipe routing. Process technical calculations. Fire fighting systems, gas- and oil pipelines, pressurized air systems, hospital gases. Supporting of pipework and piping materials.
