Objective
Students deepen their ability to encounter and maintain nursing interaction with mental health and substance abuse patients, as well as their their family members. Students can apply this in diverse operational environments to promote mental health and prevent problems in a resource-oriented way.
Students can plan, implement, evaluate and develop the care of mental health and substance abuse patients in diverse operational environments.
Students can support and guide the patient and family members through the different stages of the care path.
Students are capable of independent and multiprofessional decision-making as part of the overall psychiatric treatment.
Students show responsibility through their own actions on the quality of their nursing.

1 ECTS = 27 hours of student's work (total 5 x 27 hrs= 135 hrs).
Further information
Orientation, pre-clinics and simulations are compulsory. Continuous assessment, active participation during the lessons 80%.
Non-attendance must be compensated (written assignement).
Criteria for the course are: basic studies (theory and practice) need to be accepted. Minimum 150 ects completed.
Participation in orientation is obligatory.
Students must confirm their attendance for a course implementation by being present when tuition begins or in another manner agreed with the lecturer; for example, by returning the first course assignment. Students who are unable to attend the first teaching session due to illness may also confirm their attendance by informing the lecturer of this in advance.

Assessment methods and criteria
Evaluation is based on written group assignment.
It is possible to try to improve the grade of written group assignment once.
Numeric evaluation 0-5.
Self-evaluation and peer review.
Medical calculations must be passed.
Evaluating competences evaluation criteria expert is used.
