Child Protection (5 ECTS)

Learning outcomes

Students will understand the phenomena related to child protection. They will acknowledge the uniqueness of the client group and its needs. Students will able to apply key fundamental concepts, legislation and services. They will identify the most important work practices and evaluate the current debate related to child protection. They will be able to reflect on their own professional activity.

Content

The child's role in changing society. United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Work values and princi-ples of child welfare. Preventive child welfare. The child protection process. Child welfare legislation for securing fundamental individual rights. Practices of preventive work, as well as child and family-specific work.
The study unit includes four hours of guidance for professional growth.

Location and time

Opintojakso koostuu pääasiassa itsenäisestä työskentelystä sisältäen luentotallenteiden katsomista, itsenäisiä oppimistehtäviä ja ryhmämuotoista lukupiirityöskentelyä.

Opintojakso sisältää yhden lähiopetuskerran pe 13.11.2020 klo 08.30-11.45 (Myllypuron kampus).

Moodletentti verkossa 11.12.2020 klo 12-16 (tenttiaika 2h)

Further information for students

Kyseessä on itsenäisen työskentelyn toteutus. Opintojaksolle otetaan max. 28 opiskelijaa. Itsenäisen työskentelyn toteutuksen lisäksi on tarjolla lähiopetukseen keskittyvä toteutus SX00BO49-3023. Mikäli ilmoittautuneita on enemmän kuin opintojaksolle voidaan hyväksyä, ovat ensisijalla ryhmän SXH19S1 opiskelijat. Mikäli tästä ryhmästä ilmoittautuneita on enemmän kuin opintojaksolle voidaan hyväksyä, valitaan opiskelijat ilmoittautumisjärjestyksessä.

Opintojakson alussa on orientoiva ennakkotehtävä, joka ilmoitetaan opiskelijoille ennen opintojakson alkua.

Lähiopetuskerralla 13.11 käsitellään asiakasnäkökulmaa lastensuojelussa. Vierailijoina on kokemusasiantuntijoita.
