Objective

The student
• is able to navigate their study environment and use the necessary information systems for their studies
• develops their learning and study skills and plans their studies with clear goals
• is proficient in various communication and interaction situations
• learns to produce clear and professional written texts and enhance their communication skills
• is able to handle information appropriately and identify common cybersecurity threats
• is able to use artificial intelligence responsibly and ethically in learning.

Materials

Participation in the course does not require the student to purchase separate literature materials. The student can for example use the materials of the Metropolia library available through the finna.metropolia.fi portal. Materials to be studied will be announced during the implementation. Students must also independently search for source material related to the topics of individual assignments.

In-class lectures and independent individual and group work 60 %.

The student
• is able to work in their learning environment and use the necessary information systems
• identifies some learning and study skills and is able to set general objectives for their studies in a guided way
• is able to participate in communication and interaction situations and produce comprehensible texts
• is able to identify some information security threats and take them into account when processing information
• is able to use AI tools for basic tasks.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student
• is able to work fluently in the learning environment and use the necessary information systems
• is able to identify different learning and study skills and to set objectives for their studies
• participates actively in communication and interaction situations and produces clear, professional texts
• identified common information security threats and is able to address them when processing information
• is able to use AI tools.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
• is able to work very effectively in their learning environment and use the necessary information systems efficiently and independently
• demonstrates an in-depth understanding of learning and study skills and sets objectives for their studies
• engages in communication and interaction in a skillful and constructive manner
• produces high quality and professional texts
• identifies common security threats and processes information responsibly and professionally • is able to make use of AI tools in a variety of ways.

Attendance: including class exercises in small groups (20%)
Learning assignments: individual tasks, 2 briefs (40%)
