Objective
The student will be able to
- identify the specific issues and needs related to mental health and substance abuse problems of older people and their loved ones
- assess the methods and services in mental health and substance abuse work with older people
- identify the stages of a psychological crisis
- understand the importance of resource orientation in client work when dealing with an older person with substance abuse or mental health problems in crisis
- knows the key legislation and ethical guidelines governing mental health and substance abuse work.
