Objective

The student
• acquires a fundamental understanding of user experience design and gains insight into the key principles and distinctions of major design approaches within the field of digital design
• comprehends the theoretical and methodological foundations of current design practices and is able to apply these within a user-centred design process
• develops the skills to evaluate various phases of the design process and integrates the principles of user research into practical design work
• is able to draft prototypes and identify development areas based on user research findings.

Content

• Fundamentals of user experience design
• Key design paradigms
• Phases of the design process
• Application of user research principles
• Basics of prototyping

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student
• participates in the course activities at a satisfactory level
• demonstrates a partial understanding of the fundamentals of user experience design, key design paradigms, processes, and their practical applications
• recognises the basic phases of user research and is capable of producing a simple prototype to support the design process.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student
• participates actively in course activities
• demonstrates a solid understanding of the fundamentals of user experience design, key design paradigms and processes, and the main phases of user research
• can apply user research results to identify development needs, produce a clear prototype, and evaluate its alignment with user-centred design principles
• can articulate and justify their design choices.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
• demonstrates exceptional engagement in course activities
• displays a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of user experience design, key design paradigms and processes, and the main phases of user research
• effectively applies these principles iteratively to identify development needs
• is capable of producing a sophisticated and versatile prototype, critically evaluating its features, and professionally applying insights gained during the design process.
