Objective

The student
• recognises factors related to meeting new learners and pedagogical interaction
• understands how to plan a lesson using suitable learning materials for learners of different ages and levels
• comprehends the basic knowledge required for teaching their instrument and develops their understanding through observing teaching.

Content

• Meeting the learner and dialogic interaction
• Planning a lesson and selecting suitable learning materials for the learner's needs
• Considering learners of different ages in lesson plans
• Developing one's own teaching through observation

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student understands the key principles related to meeting new learners and pedagogical interaction. The student knows how to plan lessons for learners of different ages and levels, selecting suitable learning materials. The student has basic knowledge required for teaching their own instrument and keeps developing their skills through observation. The student is prepared to start one-to-one tuition teacher practice.

Qualifications

The student identifies phenomena related to interaction with learners of different ages and the different learning environments for instrumental and vocal teaching. They recognise their own strengths and can reflect on their learning, development and related factors in music pedagogy, both orally and in writing.
