Learning outcomes

The student knows the basics of live performance and theatre technology systems and the basic use of equipment. The student is able to set up simple sound, light and video systems and use them as part of a team in typical situations. The student is able to document the operation of the system. The student is able to carry out simple rigging and lifting safely. The student knows the safety risks associated with systems and can take them into account when building and operating a system.

Student workload

Work required is heavily dependent on students earlier knowledge in the subject.

One credit is approximately 27 hours on students work. This course is 5 credits which means 135 hours of work in average.

Further information for students

The final submission date for the tasks is 15.12.2025. The partial completions of the course are valid for one year from the start of the course. Similarly, the final submission date for any separately agreed make-up tasks is one year from the start of the course.

Partial use of AI-based tools is possible. The instructions for using AI-based tools are task-specific.

Assessment methods and criteria

Continuous assessment. Participation in the planning and implementation workshop from December 8th to 16th 2025 is required.

The student identifies the risks associated with rigging and hoisting and can carry out simple safe rigging or hoisting work independently.
