Objective
The students know the fundamentals of mathematics and the fundamentals of physics and measurement units related to the professional field. They understand how forces affect objects and are able to count tension forces in suspension situations. They can apply the physics of sound and light in the live performance technology systems. The students are able to choose tools and structures based on physical properties of the materials. They can give rationale to their solutions in live performance technology based on mathematical and physical knowledge.
Content
• In mathematics: numeral systems, calculation rules, equation solving and trigonometry.
• In physics: dynamics, statics, sound and electromagnetic radiation
• Physical properties of metals and some other materials

Exam schedules
Mathematics: 6.10.2025 klo 9:30 - 12:30, second exam date is published later if needed
Physics: 16.12.2025 klo 9:30 - 12:30, second exam date is published later if needed
Student workload
Work required is heavily dependent on students earlier knowledge in the subject.
One credit is approximately 27 hours on students work. This course is 5 credits which means 135 hours of work in average.
Further information
The final submission date for the tasks is 15.12.2025. The partial completions of the course are valid for one year from the start of the course. Similarly, the final submission date for any separately agreed make-up tasks is one year from the start of the course.
Partial use of AI-based tools is possible. The instructions for using AI-based tools are task-specific.
Evaluation scale
0-5
