Objective

The student will understand the basic structures and components of drones, such as motors, batteries, propellers and control systems. They will know the areas of use and applications of drones and be able to evaluate the characteristics and limitations of different types of drones.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student
• will identify the main components of drones and their basic functions.
• can identify the applications of drones and understand the basics of safety.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student
• can analyse the characteristics of different types of drones and their suitability for different tasks.
• understands the aviation legislation on drones and be able to assess safety requirements.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
• can compare different drone technologies and evaluate their performance in different environments.
• can critically analyse safety risks and propose improvements for the use of drones in different applications.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Fundamentals and principles of drone technology (1 ECTS) is passed if the student understands the structure of drones, the function of their main components and their applications, and is able to assess safety aspects. He/she passes the theoretical examination. Failure means that the student does not understand the basic structure of drones, is unable to identify their applications or safety aspects and does not pass the theoretical examination.

Further information

Fundamentals and principles of drone technology (1 ECTS) is conducted independently in an online environment, where students learn about the design, operation and applications of drones. The course includes theoretical overviews and a quiz, the successful completion of which is a prerequisite for progression to the following sections.
