Objective

The student can identify typical functions in HVAC engineering and is able to numerically and analytically solve related equations. The student can interpret derivatives as rates of change. The student is able to apply techniques of differentiation and to estimate the derivative numerically and graphically. The student knows the concept of the definite integral. The student can visualize and interpret statistical data. They can explain the meaning of measurement uncertainty and analyze errors statistically.

Content

Typical functions in HVAC engineering. Logarithmic scale. Numerical and analytical equation solving. Definition of a derivative. Symbolic, numerical and graphical differentiation. Applications of differentiation. Introduction to integral calculus. Statistical parameters and visualization of statistical data. Basics of regression analysis.
