Objective
The student
• learns about the types of digital services in the social and health sector and identifies the opportunities and challenges related to them
• is aware of the principles of ethics and accessibility in digital services
• understands the responsibilities of the worker in relation to data protection and data security in digital services.

Location and time
The course will be held entirely online from September 1 to November 30, 2025.
Materials
Completing the course does not require prior familiarization with the learning materials. The required learning materials and recommended literature can be found on Moodle, linked to each module.
Teaching methods
The course is completed online through independent study. The course does not include scheduled teaching, but to support learning, students have the opportunity to participate in online guidance. Online guidance is organized four times during the semester, the schedule can be found in more detail on Moodle.
The Moodle learning environment is open from 1.9 to 30.11, after which it is not possible to complete learning assignments or exams.

Completion alternatives
There are no alternative ways to complete the course.
Student workload
2 credits, or 54 hours. The course includes four modules, each of which requires the student to work for approximately 10 hours, including familiarizing themselves with the materials, completing learning tasks, and completing an exam.

In addition to orientation and instructions, the course includes four modules:
1) Digital services in the social and health sector
2) Opportunities and challenges
3) Ethics and accessibility
4) Data protection and security
The student can complete the modules in any order they wish during the course.

Communication between students and teachers mainly takes place through the Moodle discussion group. In personal matters related to completing the course, you can contact both teachers of the course.

The course cannot be credited according to the AHOT process. If you assess that you have the competence in accordance with the course's learning objectives based on your previous education and/or work experience, you can complete the learning tasks and exams related to the Moodle modules as proof of competence.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course is assessed on a pass-fail scale. The assessment is based on the study modules completed in Moodle. A pass includes both learning tasks and multiple-choice exams. More detailed assessment criteria are mentioned in connection with each learning activity.
The pass results of the course are registered within one month of the end of the study period (end date 30.11.2025).
