Objective

On completion of the course the student will be able to:
-Interact in a simple way in diverse social and service situation. However, might not be able to understand enough to keep the conversation going.
-Write short simple notes relating to familiar topics.
-Understand the main point in short, clear texts.
-Improve her/his knowledge of the Hispanic world.

Content

Grammatical structures, vocabulary, pronunciation, verbal and written expression, and listening comprehension.

Location and time

The course will take place on campus from 25.08.2025 to 12.12.2025.
Lectures will take place in room MMC223.

Materials

We will use the book Aula Internacional as the text.
Both text and exercises will be uploaded to Moodle.
Students are encouraged to seek other resources (e.g., online dictionaries, grammar, and language apps) to help with the learning process.

Teaching methods

The course is built on a flipped classroom model, combining contact meetings with independent work and online activities.
The student must complete assignments based on the given material at home before applying the knowledge acquired during the lectures.

Spanish is spoken by more than 400 million native speakers, the second most spoken language after Mandarin Chinese. It has official status in 21 countries in South, Central, and North America, Europe, and Africa (Equatorial Guinea). Spanish is related to Portuguese, French, Italian and Romanian and gives you a different worldview. Speaking even basic Spanish opens an array of opportunities in the Hispanic World.

Exam schedules

A final exam will take place at the end of the semester, with possibilities to resit the exam.

The course workload is based on 5 ECTS or 125 hours.

The student has achieved the course objectives fairly. The student will be able to identify, define and use the course subject area’s concepts and models. The student understands the criteria and principles of the expertise development.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student has achieved the course objectives well, even though the knowledge and skills need improvement on some areas. The student is able to define the course concepts and models and are able to justify the analysis. The student is able to apply their knowledge in leisure, study and work situations. The student understands the importance of expertise in the field of business and is able to analyze his/her own expertise.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student has achieved the objectives of the course with excellent marks. The student masters commendably the course subject area’s concepts and models. The student is able to make justified and fluent analysis and to present concrete development measures. The student is well prepared to apply their knowledge in leisure, study and work situations. The student is able to analyze the business sector expertise and the development of his/her own expertise.
