Objective
The student
• is familiar with the contents of their degree programme and the job opportunities in the laboratory sector
• knows the companies and actors in their field
• is familiar with the main guidelines in their field, such as safety guidelines and labour legislation.
• identifies their own strengths and areas for improvement and knows how to develop their learning and study skills
• is able to use key office software tools
• knows the main guidelines, rules and study practices of the Metropolia UAS
• is familiar with the student services of the Metropolia UAS and the information systems relevant to studies.
Students will learn to work safely in the laboratory and know the laboratory practices of Metropolia UAS. After completing this course, students will be prepared to participate in other laboratory courses.
After completing the basic information security course, the student will be able to handle information appropriately, identify the most common information security threats and be prepared to meet the requirements of working life in terms of information security skills.
After completing the basic course in artificial intelligence, the student will understand the principles of large language models and their advantages and disadvantages. They will be able to use AI in a responsible and ethical way in learning, taking responsibility for the content of their own work and following good scientific practice.

Introduction to laboratory work

After completing the course, the student is familiar with the topics covered in the course objectives. The student must pass the laboratory safety exam and the laboratory work must be completed.
