COURSE DESCRIPTION: This is an online course for music degree students, but you can invite students from outside the music field to bring diverse expertise to your team. The course consists of six task modules, each addressing a specific phase of the innovation process. It is a comprehensive 10-credit project (approx. 270 hours), including project work, task descriptions, and a final assignment. The project must be suitable and sufficiently challenging.

REGISTRATION: When registering, complete and submit the e-form: https://elomake.metropolia.fi/lomakkeet/45251/lomake.html
In the form, you will describe the project's objectives, implementation method, industry partner, and your team's contact information.

PROJECT APPROVAL: The course instructor, Jukka Väisänen, will review the plan and either approve, provide additional instructions, or reject the project proposal.

INDUSTRY PARTNER: Participation in the course requires having your own industry client for whom you will carry out the project. The industry partner can be, for example, a company, municipality, cooperative, association, theater, band, publisher, recording studio, filmmaker, educational institution, or similar. The industry partner must be secured before being accepted into the course. The school does not arrange clients for summer studies.

INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE: If you are taking the course during an international exchange, the tasks will be adapted for the exchange. Discuss this in advance with the course instructor. Those going abroad will also create a Pecha Kucha video report (1 credit) and a 2-credit Minno theory. Complete the aforementioned project planning form and reflect on what innovative aspects emerged during your international studies (consider different aspects, practices, and "collisions" of the foreign culture from the perspective of your own culture).

PROJECT EXAMPLE: You can carry out the innovation project related to your work or other activities. The project must include various phases and methods of the innovation process. The project can involve product or service development, designing a new concept or method, or practical tasks such as building, testing, composing, piloting, prototyping, or creating an artistic output. The project can also include new skills to be learned, such as 3D printing, using DAW, programming, game music design, AI, podcasting, digital development, or film music.
