Student workload
The total load of the course (5 ECTS) is 135 hours in total, which is divided into five partial implementations of 1 ECTS. 1 (opt) credit corresponds to 27 t of student work.
The health care and social services system, the key legislation and ethical principles 1.0 credits (27 hours of student work): lectures 6 hours, individual assignments 8 hours, independent study 12h and exam 1h.
First Aid 1.0 ECTS (27 hours of student work): 10 hours of individual assignments to prepare for practice classes, 1 hour of CPR online course, 4 hours of first aid exercises and 12 hours of small group assignments.

The student confirms his/her place in the course by being present at the beginning of the lesson or in any other way agreed with the teacher, for example by returning the first learning assignment. If the student is unable to attend the start of the course due to illness, he/she can also confirm his/her place by informing the teacher in advance.
The assignments and MATERIALS prepared by the teacher are works according to the Copyright Act (404/61), to which the teacher has the copyright. Assignments AND MATERIALS may not be used other than in their own studies. Their public distribution is only allowed with the teacher's permission.
If the student has previous first aid skills, the student can apply, application for approval,
for partial credit for the first aid section of 1.0 ECTS (=27 hours of student work).
The student must submit an application for approval as soon as the course supervisor has approved him for implementation. The application is addressed to the first aid teacher. Before submitting the application, the student must assess his competence in the first aid competence objectives (look at Moodle). The application must be accompanied by a certificate / document from previous first aid studies.
Regarding asepsis and the social security service system, legislation, recording and ethics, you can apply for approval based on a previous degree and work experience. The application is sent to your career counselor and the decision is sent to the person in charge of the degree.
Instructions on the use of artificial intelligence during the course are given separately. Students should familiarise themselves with Metropolia's AI guidelines and follow them in their study attainments.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course is assessed as pass/fail.
The health care and social services system, key legislation and ethical principles has been approved when the student has completed all tasks and has successfully completed the exam.
The course health promotion has been successfully completed when the student has completed all tasks and successfully completed the exam.
Basics of structured recording of information and legislation governing: all tasks done by announced dead line.
Infection control and asepsis have been successfully completed when the student has completed all tasks.
First aid 1 ECTS approved:
The individual assignments must be completed before the training sessions and the small group assignment must be returned by the deadline indicated in Moodle. Obligation to participate in first aid exercises according to the schedule. Forced absences are agreed upon separately with the teacher.
