Objective
The student will either independently or as a member of a group carry out a work-based conservation project or a conservation research project in the form of structured assignment. During the course the student learns to schedule, follow and reflect her/his own work or the work of a project team and to plan, carry out, report and communicate accordingly concerning her/his work in the professional context. During the course the student applies all the knowledge and skills gained during the previous studies. During the course the student collects independently the relevant data and uses this data in a critical and ethical way.

Autumn 2025 second period. Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Conservation degree program facilities and possibly an external client.

Selected according to the task.
Teaching methods
Project learning, independent information acquisition and problem solving, and independent or group work. Depending on the task, cooperation with an external client and communication.

No exam, completed and approved assignment.
Student workload
The student's weekly working hours are 40 hours / 1,5 credits. Which has approx. 15 - 20 hours of contact studies with a lecturer. The remaining hours are spent on a literature study or praxis work. 1 credit (cr) is equivalent to 27 hours.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student works independently enough. The project planning is acceptable but the scheduling, task management and reporting of the project are problematic. The project communication is challenging or has defects. The reflecting/peer review could have been used more productively. The data collection is insufficient and the application is superficial.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The work-based conservation project or a conservation research project was carried out in the form of structured assignment. The project was successful in scheduling, reaching the goals, follow-up and professional communication. The gained during the previous studies knowledge and skills, collection of new data and use of all gathered information were made according to the goals set for the course. Self-reflection/peer review were made at the end of the course.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The course goals were reached successfully. The chosen task was fulfilled and the set result was gained according to the plans and all acquired knowledge and skills were applied successfully during the project. The data collection was successful and the gathered data was used according to the set goals. The self-reflection/peer review were used during the project and, if needed, based on it the implementation was changed accordingly in order to achieve the set goals.
Assessment methods and criteria
Continuous assessment of work 20% and successfully completed assignment 80%.
