Advanced User Interface Design (10 ECTS)

Objective

The student
• expands their user interface design skills
• becomes familiar with the changes in the field of user interface design and understands the design requirements of different end devices
• knows the effects of usability and information architecture on user interface design and is familiar with the most common design techniques
• understands the importance of visuality for user interface design and can create appropriate design solutions
• is familiar with the basic design guidelines of the field and is able to utilise this knowledge in their work.

Materials

The learning materials will be announced no later than the beginning of the course.

Teaching methods

- Contact teaching at the Arabia campus
- Project work in client projects and a production office–like learning environment
- Participation in advanced topics through workshop-based learning
- Expert materials, assignments, discussions, group work

During the course, client projects are carried out as part of advanced studies.

Any optional completion methods will be negotiated with the teacher.

Student workload

Work on campus mainly takes place from Tuesday to Friday. Part of the learning takes place during the student’s own time. If desired, students may begin working already before the course starts in order to ease their workload in the autumn.

Content scheduling

The workshop schedules will be announced no later than at the beginning of the course. Project work will begin at the start of the course and continue throughout the autumn semester.

• is proficient in the most common engineering techniques

• masters the use of appropriate design solutions and essential design guidelines.

Assessment methods and criteria

Project Work:
- Grade 1–2: Complete agreed tasks and learning assignments; no guidance provided.
- Grade 3–4: Complete agreed tasks, support others, be flexible with your roles, be present, acquire knowledge independently, share your expertise, aim for quality.
- Grade 5: In addition to the above: take major responsibility for the projects and for everyone’s development; produce outstanding results.
