Objective

The student
• knows the structure of the curriculum and the contents of the majors and study paths of the degree programme
• knows how to plan their own studies and progress
• is able to identify job opportunities in their field of study
• knows the main companies and actors in the field and their activities
• knows the main guidelines in the field, such as safety guidelines and labour legislation
• knows what internationalisation means in their field of profession.
• identifies their own strengths and areas for development in learning and knows how to develop their learning and study skills
• knows how to use the main office software tools
• is familiar with their physical and social learning environment and the main guidelines, rules and study practices of the Metropolia UAS
• is familiar with the student services of the Metropolia UAS and the information systems relevant to studies.

The student is able to handle information appropriately, identify the most common security threats and is prepared to meet the requirements of working life in terms of information security skills. The student understands the principles of large language models and their advantages and disadvantages in their work. The student is able to use AI in a responsible and ethical way in learning, taking responsibility for the content of their own work and following good scientific practice.

• Working life related information in the field
• Introduction to the key regulations and work practices in the field
• Learning and study skills; identifying own strengths and weaknesses
• Physical and social study environment
• Instructions, rules and services related to studying at Metropolia UAS
• Study practices, curricula and study planning
• Basic skills in the use of office tools
• Basics of information security
• Fundamentals of artificial intelligence
• General topics related to safety and laboratory work

Teaching methods

Contact teaching and independent learning assingments in Moodle platform.

Exam schedules

The course does not have an exam, but several leaning assignments to be returned.

Content scheduling

Contact teaching 3 h/week during periods 1 and 2. Tuition begins at week 35 according to schedule.

Assessment methods and criteria

Reaching the course objetives are assesed by the leargning assignments. Learning assignments must be completed successfully and returned 100 %.
