Objective

On completion of the course, the student's will have developed his/her thermodynamic thinking, and he/she will be familiar with common thermodynamic applications in his/her field of engineering. The student will be familiar with the concept of energy efficiency.

2. Laws of thermodynamics and applications
3. Energy balance
4. Energy efficiency of machines
5. Sustainable development: economics and ecology
6. Energy sources and basics of power generation
7. Heat engines
8. Concept of efficiency

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student understands the basics of thermodynamic thinking and can solve simple tasks related to energy technology.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to use thermodynamic thinking to solve simple problems related to his/her own field of engineering, and solve tasks related to energy technology.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to use thermodynamic thinking to solve problems related to energy technology and solve tasks related to energy technology.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student understands the basics of thermodynamic thinking and can solve simple tasks related to energy technology.

Objective
