Objective
The student
• is able to evaluate and select appropriate approaches and methods for the research and development of work and working communities in their field of study
• is able to identify the starting points and concepts of the main research and development methods used in their field
• masters the principles of research and development design and the content of a research plan and understands the importance of research design
• is able to collect appropriate research and development data and has the basic skills in processing and analysing data, reasoning and reporting results.

Student workload
5 op=135 h, johon sisältyy lähiopetukseen osallistuminen (13h), itsenäinen opiskelu, ryhmätyöskentely, oppimistehtävien tekeminen itsenäisesti ja ryhmässä, ennakkotehtävä (yhteensä 122h).

Opintojakso koostuu lähitapaamista, itsenäisestä opiskelusta, ryhmätyöskentelystä sekä oppimistehtävien tekemisestä itsenäisesti ja ryhmässä.
Opintojaksoon sisältyy ennakkotehtävä, joka lähetetään noin 1 vkoa ennen ensimmäistä opetuskertaa. Ennakkotehtävä tehdään ensimmäiselle opetuskerralle.

Assessment methods and criteria
Tehtävät arvioidaan 0-5 sekä hyväksytty/hylätty.
Kaikki tehtävät tulee olla hyväksytysti tehty opintojakson aikana, jotta opintojaksosta voi saada hyväksytyn arvioinnin. Myöhästyneet tehtävät johtavat arvosanan alentamiseen tai opintojakson hylkäämiseen, jolloin opintojaksolle tulee ilmoittautua ja se tulee suorittaa kokonaan uudelleen.
