Objective
Students
- deepen their evidence-based competence in accordance with the key competence areas of nursing: clinical, decision-making, patient education, interaction, ethical, health promotion, and development and leadership competence
- can evaluate their evidence-based development and assume responsibility for the quality of nursing in their own actions
- are prepared for future-oriented and patient/client-oriented development of nursing
- deepen their competence in planning, implementing, evaluating and developing nursing of patients in emergency care, high dependency units, intensive care units and perioperative units of different operating environments
- deepen their competence in supporting and giving guidance to patients and their significant others in different phases of the clinical pathway

August 2025, period 1. Orientation 12.8.25. Exam-week 40.
Materials
The course literature will be refined during the course. Students can use the material they choose according to the subject of the course. The e-learning environment is Moodle, where students are guided through the course orientation. Moodle contains the objectives and contents of the study unit's (emergency and intensive care), more detailed literature and other material demonstrated by the teacher. In addition, Moodle platform has exercises for theoretical instruction, independent exercises and exams, additional material on topics, etc.

Expert lectures during the theoretical instruction during the course. After the theoretical instruction, the students complete the Development of Nurse Expertise - Clinical Practice (15 ECTS credits).

No optional methods. Education is an obligation of attendance.
Student workload
The scope of the course is 15 op. This is for the student 405 hours of work. Approximately 75 hours of nearby teaching. Self-study guidance is given by orientation.
Self-study includes pre-teaching proficiency, independent online courses, and exam preparation.
Content scheduling
The course uses teaching methods that require mandatory attendance (for example, simulations, laboratories). The course is scheduled for period 1. The aim is to organize the teaching between 8 am and 4 pm.
Further information
This is an advanced course in Degree Program Nursing. It is for the last academic year. Completion of the course requires basic studies and basic exercises. Development of Nurse Expertise - Clinical Practice can not be started until all basic exercises have been successfully completed.
Part of theoretical instruction is an obligation of attendance. Absence for a valid reason and reimbursement practices will be negotiated with the tutor implementing the implementation.

The student may choose the nursing expertise studies when he has completed the theoretical studies included in the professional nursing studies and clinical practices included in these, unless otherwise agreed in the student's ISP.
