Objective

After completion of this course the student
• understands how hard it is to know anything with certainty
• is able to identify a question or problem in the field of probability and statistics, collect relevant data, analyse it and form a conclusion based on the analysis.

The student knows the essential theory and concepts in the field and can utilise them in analysis and solutions of simple problems.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The students can combine the knowledge acquired from various fields and, based on that, is able to solve also more demanding mathematical problems.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to the in-depth management of the course contents, the student shows also capability and motivation to exploit the acquired knowledge into independent development of competence.

Completing first year study modules in Information Technology or equivalent skills and knowledge.
