Learning outcomes

The student will be familiar of principles of plant design. The student can design piping in processes. The student knows the calculation of pipe supports. The student will be familiar with necessary standards.

Prerequisites

The student will be able to read and draw technical drawings and process flow diagrams. The student will be able to make workshop drawings. The student understands the basics of CAD. The student knows the basics of material sciences. The student can solve pressure loss calculations. The student knows how to choose correct pump or and blower for the process.

Teaching methods

1. Lectures
- 'theory lectures', which cover issues related to process diagrams, plant and piping design, and 3D modeling
- 3D modelling logic & 3D design & 2D printing in plant design
2. Exercises
- every hour we do exercises together and in addition, everyone does their homework in their own time
- all assignments must be passed and passed before the exam

Content scheduling

Each time 1,5 hours of piping and plant design theory + 1,5 hours of 3D-modelling

Assessment methods and criteria

- is directly determined by the average of the two exam grades (one exam of theory and one of 3D-modelling)
- all assignments must be passed and they must be approved before the expiry date of the course

Evaluation scale

0-5

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is familiar with piping and plant design and knows how to design simple piping.
The student is familiar with the most important standards of design.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to design pipings and knows the basics of plant design.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student masters basics of piping and plant design.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student is familiar with piping and plant design and knows how to design simple piping.
