Learning outcomes

The students master the production process, work roles and workflows in event and/or theatre production. They understand the role of live performance engineering and their own activities in the whole. They are familiar with the employment laws and regulations, and related agreements. The students understand the tecnological-artistic nature of live performance engineering. The students are familiar with the principles of establishing a business. The students ara able to assess the feasability of their business plan. The students are familiar with the basics of financial management, key tax practices and legal obligations.

Exam dates and retake possibilities

No exam. The deadlines for returning assignments follow the timetable of the teaching sessions. All assignments must be returned by 16.12.2025.

Partial grades are valid for one year from the start of the course. Similarly, the last date for the return of any separately agreed grid assignments is one year after the start of the course.

Content scheduling

The course consists of two parts. The entrepreneurship section (3 credits) is a study to be completed independently in the Classroom workspace during the fall semester 2025. Participants in the course will receive an invitation to the Classroom workspace in their e-mail. The Technical production process and labor legislation section (2 credits) includes both assignments on the Classroom platform and learning sessions.

Further information for students

The course requires at least 80% attendance. The procedure for replacing the absence is agreed with the teacher in charge of the course unit. The schedule of the course can be found in Lukkari. Further information about the workshops in the course can be found in a separate document. All parts of the course must be completed successfully.

The contact teaching sessions of the implementation will be recorded in e.g. Microsoft Stream for use by the students via Moodle and Google Classroom platforms. The recordings will be kept for up to 2 years. If students do not wish to participate in the recordings, they should contact the teacher responsible for the course.

By returning the online exam or online assignment, students confirm that their demonstration of competence is based on independent work and ethical behaviour. Failure to do so may result in suspension from the UAS for up to one year. Act on Universities of Applied Sciences 932/2014, Section 38. In order to ensure the independent demonstration of competence in online learning, the teacher may, at his/her discretion, require the demonstration of competence under supervised conditions or by means of an oral examination. The teacher will inform the student of the method of demonstrating competence at the latest at the beginning of the course.

The students have a good understanding of the production process of event and/or theatre production and their own role in the whole. They understand the work legislation to a degree required in the profession. They have a comprehensive understanding of the basics of entrepreneurship, related legal obligations and a basic knowledge of financial management.

The students have a wide understanding of the production process of event and/or theatre production and a good underastandig of their own role in the whole. They understand the work legislation to a degree required in the profession. They have a comprehensive understanding of the basics of entrepreneurship, related legal obligations and financial management.
