Learning outcomes

On completion of the design office work placement, the student will:
- be acquainted with architectural design and/or building management or building supervision tasks.
- be acquainted with the company
- be able to apply theory in practice
- have created a good relationship with the company and experts in the construction field
The students will have an idea of his/her interests and future area of specialisation.
The student will know the level of expertise required for different tasks and duties. The student will be able to plan his/her career accordingly.

Content

The work placement is a part of the Bachelor’s degree programme. The objective of the work placement is to introduce the student to the vital processes relevant for the student’s professional studies in a structures way. The aim is also to develop and support the student's know-how and skills in accordance with working life. The internship enhances the student´s skills, introduces the student to work in relevant areas according to his/her area of specialisation. It supports and complements the other studies for the Bachelor’s degree.
The work placement can be completed either in a Finnish or a foreign company, in a public institution or in any other appropriate organisation.
The student must write a diary and a report of the work placement.

Working hours according the workplace. In principle 40 h / week.

Content scheduling

An internship is a course that must be completed within the scheduled time. Upon agreement, the internship can also be completed during other student free periods, outside normal contact teaching periods. The internship can also be completed in two different periods.
