Objective

On completion of the course the student
- can plan the use of equipment on site, supervise works, monitor progress and write a final report
- knows the main regulations and instructions related to occupational safety
- can produce a site safety plan
- knows how to measure occupational safety
- can carry out the initial and maintenance inspection of scaffolding and machinery
- knows the main contents of safety regulations and related legislation.

Teaching methods

The course is delivered in a face-to-face format and is divided into two sections. The first section deals with construction site technology and the second with occupational safety. The course begins with the construction site technology section. Attendance is not mandatory, but attendance is highly recommended!

There is an exam and two re-exams for the construction site technology section. The occupational safety section consists of five graded exercises. There is no exam for the occupational safety section.

Exam schedules

An exam will be held for the Construction Site Technology section and it will be scheduled at the end of the section. There will be two re-examination sessions for the section.

Student workload

There is no attendance requirement for the course, but attendance is highly recommended! The course consists of weekly lessons.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student knows most contents of the course topics and
- can plan the use of equipment on site, supervise works, monitor progress and write a final report
- knows the main regulations and instructions related to occupational safety
- can produce a site safety plan
- knows how to measure occupational safety
- can carry out the initial and maintenance inspection of scaffolding and machinery
- knows the main contents of safety regulations and related legislation.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student masters course content and
- can plan the use of equipment on site, supervise works, monitor progress and write a final report
- knows the main regulations and instructions related to occupational safety
- can produce a site safety plan
- knows how to measure occupational safety
- can carry out the initial and maintenance inspection of scaffolding and machinery
- knows the main contents of safety regulations and related legislation.

Assessment methods and criteria

The course grade is formed as the average of the sections Construction Site Technology and Occupational Safety. The average is rounded to the nearest whole number. That is, the grades of the sections are not rounded, but their average. The weighting in the section is 50/50.
