Objective
Students
- can use their knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, applied pharmacology and administration of pharmacotherapy to plan, implement and evaluate safe pharmacotherapy of different client/patient groups
- are able to plan, implement and evaluate peripheric and central intravenous infusion, nutritional and pharmacotherapeutic care safely
- are able to provide patient education to clients and patients and their significant others in pharmacotherapy and intravenous infusion
- can implement safe blood transfusion
- are aware of the potentially threatening situations and their reporting

- nurse’s role, tasks and responsibility regarding intravenous infusion and pharmacotherapeutic care
- pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and toxicology
- different pharmacons
- pharmacotherapeutic effects, side effects and synergism, mechanisms of synergism
- planning, implementing, evaluating and developing the effectiveness of safe peripheric and central intravenous infusion, nutritional and pharmacotherapeutic care

Exam schedules
The final exam of the course is done in exam-room.
Pharmacotherapy and pharmacology exams form a joint exam, that is evaluated as whole. Everyone is entitled to two retake attempts. Retake weeks are announced at the orientation of the course. Exam grade could be upgraded once at the first exam-retake. Retake exam are completed as per instructions given at the orientation. Please adhere to Metropolia guidelines regarding enrolment process for the retake exams. (Instructions can be found in OMA)

The course consists of 135 hours of which the amount contact hours will be 27 h (clinical laboratory teaching and simulation) and independent study 108 h (preparing for exam, web-based materials and learning assignments)

Further information
Pharmacotherapy 2 contains the following parts: theory, clinical labs and simulations, pharmacology 2 lectures. Info about exam practices will be provided on orientation.
Students must confirm their attendance for a course implementation by being present when teaching begins. Students who are unable to attend the first teaching session due to illness may also confirm their attendance by informing the lecturer of this in advance.
Clinical labs and simulations are compulsory and it is required that the student attends the teaching wearing nursing uniform and appropriate footwear. All students must follow the taught basic aseptic guidelines.
Recognition of prior learning (AHOT): Recognition of prior learning is only possible for those students who completed similar studies in higher education

Beginning of pharmacotherapy 2 studies:
Basic knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology.
Basic knowledge of Pharmacotherapy 1.

Assessment methods and criteria
Exam F-5, Pharmacotherapy and pharmacology exams will form a joint exam, which is evaluated as whole. Retake exams will be evaluated similarly to the initial exam.
