Objective

Students
- understand the ethical, pedagogical and methodological standpoint of patient education
- can plan, implement and evaluate patient education in a family-oriented way in cooperation with other experts
- understand the significance of illness and various care environments to a child, a young person and his/her family and are able to support and promote the health and wellbeing of families with children
- can plan, implement and evaluate the nursing of children and young persons bearing in mind the principles of nursing and ethical questions related to their care

Content

- ethical, pedagogical and methodological standpoint of patient education
- principles of nursing and ethics in nursing of children and young persons
- development and growth of children and young persons
- supporting the child, young person and families as well as the patient education process in nursing care
- principal methods for nursing of children and young persons
- the family-oriented nursing process of children and young persons with acute or long-term illnesses
- key questions related to nursing of children and young persons and the most common illnesses of children and young persons

Further information

Attendance:

Compulsory participation in orientation, preclinicals, seminar and simulation. Theory teaching is highly preferred.

Additional information:

Earlier studies can be replaced (recognition of prior learning, AHOT) by contacting the tutor teacher. Decision need to be completed one month before the course.

Accepted decision of longer time in an exam need to be informed for the contact teacher before the start of the course.
