Objective
Students
- understand the standpoint and principles of health promotion, including both risk prevention and health promotion
- understand the health determinants related to public health
- follow the public health of the Finnish population and identify changes in relation to it
- understand factors related to community health and know how to apply them to practice
- can apply health promotive approach to practice: bringing up health issues, supporting client’s health changes, motivational and solution-focused approach
- adhere to the ethical principles of health promotion
- can build their work on the foundation of immunization, are proficient in the theoretical aspects of vaccinating and adopt a positive attitude to vaccinating

- standpoint and principles of health promotion: prevention and promotion
- the relation between public health and lifestyle habits to health
- prevention of lifestyle risk behaviours and accident risks
- early identification and focused support for those in need of it
- bringing up lifestyle habits and supporting lifestyle changes

The name of the Moodle workspace and the enrollment key will be sent to students via OMA by August 22, 2025, at the latest.
The course includes video orientations that a student must watch carefully.
Basics of Vaccination Competence (2 credits), to be completed separately on Moodle during the specified time.

The student confirms their place in the course by logging into the Moodle and submitting the first assignment (assignment 1.1) to Moodle by September 8, 2025, to be considered as having started the studies and being part of the course (the student will be removed from the course if the studies have not been started)
Degree regulations: Students must confirm their attendance for a course implementation by being present when tuition begins or in another manner agreed with the lecturer; for example, by returning the first course assignment. Students who are unable to attend the first teaching session due to illness may also confirm their attendance by informing the lecturer of this in advance.
Vaccination competence portfolios are done in small groups, and individually created portfolios will not be accepted for evaluation.

Artificial intelligence can be utilized for brainstorming in written assignments, but it should not be used as a substitute for independent thinking and writing. Editing the language and style of self-produced text is permitted, but generating entire texts using AI is not allowed. If you use AI, its use must be transparently disclosed. Assessment methods and criteria
Course will be evaluated passed/failed
The entire course is completed at least at level 3, when the things listed below are fulfilled:
- Assignments have been returned / completed during course implementing time
- Tasks in Moodle-base has completed at least at level 3
- Vaccination competence portfolio(pair or group-working) and individual exam approved.
Assessment is based on the following criteria (Good 3):
- consistently uses the knowledge base of the professional field
- seeks information and justifies actions using evidence-based knowledge
- applies professional skills in various situations
- is able to act in a customer-oriented manner
- solves professional tasks and problems based on the theoretical knowledge learned in the course
- acts in accordance with the ethical principles of the profession
The copying of practical assignments, theses and other complete course performance or material and presenting it as one's own (i.e. plagiarism) is prohibited. The performance of the course will be failed if a student is found guilty of misconduct in the form of plagiarism.
