Objective
The student will be able to
• identify questions and needs for development in their professional field and working life and plan solutions to them in accordance with the principles of sustainable development
• use reliable information from various sources to base and frame their work
• apply their professional knowledge and appropriate methods and working methods in their development work.

• Familiarisation with the thesis process
• Contractual and permitting practices
• Familiarisation with the environment and planning of cooperation with working life
• Identifying the need for development
• Source-critical information gathering in Finnish and English
• Choice of working methods and methodologies
• Specifying the topic
• Drawing up and presenting a development plan

Student workload
Course resources: 5 ECTS x 27h = 135h for student to work
Small group working 4 x 3h= 12 h. Finnish language and comminication workshops 12h.
Independent studying 103 h. Planning seminar 8h. Working in the publishing phase requires the student to take an independent and self-directed approach and time management.
Students also participate in multidisciplinary development and research workshops that support thesis planning and workshops offered by Finnish language and communication teachers. Each workshop is offered several times with the same content, and the student chooses the time that suits him best.
