Objective

The student is able to apply learned skills while using podiatric instruments and devices safely and purposefully. The student manages the principles and practices of service operations and is able to function in a work community. The student is able to utilize the learned evaluation skills and treatment methods, understands the podiatric process and initiates clinical reasoning in practice. The student is able to perform dialogic and ethical interaction in client interactions and work community.

The student is knowledgeable of the clinical reasoning processes and clinical reasoning models in order to initiate a podiatry plan, treatment, and rehabilitation as expected in the practice of reasoning process.

The student knows how to act according to the ethical principles of health care.

The student is able to initiate self-assessment, peer assessment, and client documentation according to the instructions. The student is able to chart the client’s self-care habits and prioritize the client’s primary instructional needs.

The student is able to explain the legislation and organization on the prevention of microbes in Finland. The student is knowledgeable of the mechanism and causes of the most common infectious diseases especially in the area of skin, mucous tissues and foot/lower extremity, existing in the student’s work. The student is able to describe the function of immune responses toward microbes especially on the cell level in the blood and lymph. The student is knowledgeable of the infection routes of disease causing microbes and is able to describe the disease presentation and symptoms of the most common infectious diseases as well as knows the principles of protection from the microbe contamination in the profession.

The student is able to evaluate the environmental impacts of health care and podiatry. The student is able to describe what overconsumption, life cycle approach, carbon neutrality, carbon footprint and handprint mean in health care.
