Work Placement 3 (10 ECTS)

Objective

The aim of the work placement is that the student is able to operate in dialogical interaction in accordance with ethical principles during client situations and in work communities. The student can plan and implement physiotherapy that promotes the client’s agency and functional ability in various environments in the cooperation based on multiprofessional expertise together with the client. The student assesses and develops their personal activities. Students’ key professional competence and expertise deepen systematically as the studies progress.

Content

Students’ work placement as a goal-oriented, supervised and evaluated activity, in working life learning environments
It is required that during the studies, students practice in different working life learning environments
Documentation of physiotherapy
Basic of musculoskeletal imaging

Group discussion on Zoom, cameras on. See the schedule; a more detailed timetable will be sent before the discussions.

Assignments in Moodle are available 15.8. - 19.12.2025. Lecture is in Zoom. Assignments of Anatomy should be return at the latest 19.10.2025.

See the guidelines for clinical practice tasks on Workseed and Wiki. Use researched knowledge and evidence-based practice in your work according to the guidelines.

Assignments of diagnostic imaging are given to students. We are using Moodle. Assignments are mandatory. Lectures can´t be replaced. Use of AI is forbidden.

Employer connections

Clinical practice 9 ECTS, two weeks, 35 h / week + independent information seeking and written assignments 5 h / week = 40 h / week. Information about the clinical practice place must be reported via Wiki well in advance before the start of the clinical practice.

Exam schedules

According to the Degree Regulations of Metropolia, the student must re-register for the course and complete it in a manner agreed with the teacher if the student does not receive an acceptable assessment at the re-assessment sessions or if the required sub-credits are not completed.

Assessment methods and criteria

Clinical practice: small group discussion, assigned tasks, tripartite supervision discussion, self-assessment and assessment by the clinical practice supervisor.
Approved and rejected clinical practice criteria on the Wiki.
To be accepted, each assignment, small group discussion and clinical practice must be completed successfully and the practice tasks must be recorded and signed off tripartite in Workseed.

Qualifications

Student knows the basics of assessment and promotion of functioning in physiotherapy. Student knows the basics of body functions and structures. Student knows the basics of physiotherapy in musculoskeletal disorders. Student has accomplished minimum of 6 credits of clinical practice in physiotherapy.
