Objective

The student can describe the factors affecting the client’s respiratory and cardiovascular health and knows how to promote respiratory and cardiovascular health. The student knows how to assess the function of the client’s respiratory and cardiovascular system and can implement physiotherapy that promotes functional ability. Students are able to interpret examination results related to cardiac patient’s physical performance and assess this performance. They know how to plan and implement the rehabilitation of patients representing varying risk levels in various phases of the rehabilitation. Students will be able to apply planetary health and sustainable development thinking to respiratory and cardiovascular health.

Exam schedules

All the tasks and exams are performed in Finnish.

Each class includes a mini-exam on Moodle, which a student has three days from the end of the session to answer. If there is no class exam, this will be indicated separately. Class exams are part of the overall assessment of the course and contribute to the grade. There is no possibility of re-taking the class exams.

The courses examination will take place in EXAM during the weeks 40-41. Re-exams in weeks 46-47 and 51-52.
The student has the right to retake a failed exam twice and a passed exam once. The retakes must be made at the retake examinations indicated here. The highest of the approved grades will stand.

As stated in Degree Regulations of Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, a student who fails a course despite repeated attempts or does not complete the required components of a course must register again for the course and complete it in a manner agreed with the lecturer.

1 credit = 27 hours. The total amount of credits includes face-to-face teaching, guidance, group work, seminars, independent studying, exams and written assignments.

Further information

Attendance is compulsory for 80% of the course, with any absences above this level being compensated by future implementation. Bicycle ergometer test workshops compulsory, absence will be compensated by future implementation. Instructions will be discussed at the first meeting.

The student confirms their place in the course by attending the first class or, if the student is unable to attend the start of the course due to illness, they can confirm their place by informing the teacher responsible for the course in advance by e-mail.

If the student has individualized educational support / study arrangements, shall this student contact the teacher of the course immediately after the end of the registration period (or latest before the start of the course.)
