Objective
The aim of the work placement is that the student is able to operate in dialogical interaction in accordance with ethical principles during client situations and in work communities. The student can plan and implement physiotherapy that promotes the client’s agency and functional ability in various environments in the cooperation based on multiprofessional expertise together with the client. The student can apply evidence-based physiotherapy in different situations and is familiar with the special physiotherapy features of different functional ability disorders. The student can critically assess his/her own operations and identifies the needs of development and challenges in his/her field. The student knows how to suggest justified solutions for the needs of development in working life.

Students’ work placement as a goal-oriented, supervised and evaluated activity, in working life learning environments
It is required that during the studies, students practice in different working life learning environments

Clinical practice 13.1.-23.2.2025 or as planned.
Materials
See the guidelines for clinical practice tasks on Workseed and Wiki. Use researched knowledge in your assignments and evidence-based practice in your activities according to the guidelines. The development task should be created without the help of AI. Students should use only their own knowledge, understanding and skills in addition to the researched data. The use of AI will be interpreted as cheating.

Employer connections
Clinical practice 10 credits (incl. development task 1 credit) , 6 weeks, 35 h / week + independent research and assignments 5 h / week, or timing as otherwise agreed. Students will post details of their placement on the Wiki well in advance of the practice.
Note: Finnish language skills are required in clinical practice in Finland.
Exam schedules
According to the Metropolia Degree Regulations, the student must re-register for the course and complete it in a manner agreed with the teacher if the student does not receive an acceptable assessment at the re-assessment sessions or if the required sub-credits are not completed.
International connections

Completion alternatives
According to the Degree Regulations of Metropolia, it is possible to apply for clinical practice through the recognition of prior learning (RPL / AHOT) on the basis of work experience as a physiotherapist. Previously acquired competence must meet the competence objectives of the curriculum. The accreditation is processed on the basis of the student's RPL / AHOT application and the student is responsible for demonstrating, proving and submitting sufficient information to the RPL / eAHOT system, including copies of work certificates. The application can only be submitted after six weeks of full-time work.

Students work according to professional ethics considering the characteristics of various situations, and in their work they commit themselves to the code of professional conduct.

Students master professional concepts and make choices together with the client using the comprehensive knowledge base, in changing environments. They also assess their own functioning and produce knowledge to develop their operating environment. Students act independently and professionally and develop their working and operating environments together with other actors. Students work according to professional ethics considering the characteristics of complex and unpredictable situations. Their work develops and renews professional procedures and practices.

Assessment methods and criteria
Clinical practice: assigned tasks, self-assessment and assessment by the clinical practice supervisor.

To be accepted, each assignment and clinical practice must be completed successfully and the practice tasks must be recorded and signed off tripartite in Workseed.
Qualifications
Student knows the basics of assessment and promotion of functioning in physiotherapy. Student knows the basics of body functions and structures. Student knows the basics of physiotherapy in musculoskeletal disorders. Student has accomplished minimum of 6 credits of clinical practice in physiotherapy.
