Objective

The students

*understand the importance and principles of self-assessment and clinical auditing

*know the principles of radiation protection in X-ray rooms

*are familiar with the fundamentals of scientific writing

Compulsory attendance at laboratories. Appropriate work attire in laboratories.

Absence from class will be compensated as determined by the teacher.

Students must confirm their attendance for a course implementation by being present when tuition begins or in another manner agreed with the lecturer; for example, by returning the first course assignment. Students who are unable to attend the first teaching session due to illness may also confirm their attendance by informing the lecturer of this in advance.

Instructions on the use of artificial intelligence during the course are given separately. Students should familiarise themselves with Metropolia's AI guidelines and follow them in their study attainments.

Assessment methods and criteria

The course is approved when the student has participated in the teaching, completed all course-related assignments within the specified time and demonstrated sufficient competence through a self-assessment task.

Assessment criteria for the learning task (approved/needs to be completed/failed)

Approved:
The student demonstrates a good understanding of the importance of effectiveness, patient safety and quality in healthcare and radiography work. The sources have been utilized appropriately and their key contents have been highlighted. The report is clearly structured and includes an introduction, a discussion section and personal reflection. The sources have been appropriately marked and referenced.

Needs to be completed:
The report contains incorrect or incomplete information about key concepts. The sources have been used superficially or one or more sources are missing. The connection to radiography work is weak. The text is partly unstructured and illogical. There are shortcomings in the source references. The personal reflection is incomplete.

Rejected:
The report does not use the given sources. The topic has not been covered according to the assignment. The report lacks structure or is completely unclear. References have not been marked. The report is a mere summary and does not contain any of the author's own reflections.

Qualifications

Prerequisite studies:
Clinical practice in plain imaging examinations 10 ECTS
Patient in computer tomography and magnetic resonance imaging examinations 10 ECTS
