Objective
On completion of the course, the student
• can responsibly develop innovative practical and concrete solutions, practices, products or services with multidisciplinary partners to meet the diverse future needs and current challenges in the metropolitan area
• is able to define the concept of innovation and take development methods into use

Content
• The concept of innovation, development work management and building a development team
• Collaborative project and innovation work and assessment: brainstorming, future-oriented conceptualisation and design, customer and user understanding, contracts and copyrights, communicating, publishing, productisation, marketing and implementation planning
• Multidisciplinary teamwork, stakeholder activities and networking
• Innovation development tools and methods

Myyrmäki campus.
Teaching methods
The course is based on active group work, in teams of 4 persons. During the course, groups of students will learn about the development of a product/service in a company's market environment and carry out group work in line with this objective. The objective and task comes from an external "client", company, etc., with whom the students work together. The case company has to be acquired by the group itself, on the other hand, Metropolia can partly provide quality projects suitable for the purposes of the course.

The course includes the following areas:
- Project and innovation work: ideation, planning, implementation, evaluation, communication, publication, productisation and marketing.
- Collaboration skills, stakeholder engagement and networking.
- Innovative working methods.
- Areas of competence in collaborative development: development processes, coordination and management of development projects, innovation of development models.
Objectives
On completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Develop practical and innovative solutions, practices or services in cooperation with others.
- Apply project and networking skills and business management skills in demanding development projects.
- Use their expertise in cooperation with experts and in a working environment.
- Use their problem-solving, cooperation and communication skills at different stages of the development process

Course evaluation criterion, satisfactory (1-2)
The solution developed meets the given challenge but is modest in scope or depth. The student uses his/her collaboration and communication skills and applies them to the development process and decision making. The project report is limited or incomplete. The student is involved in collaborative development.
Course evaluation criterion, good (3-4)
The project assignment is properly completed and is sufficiently comprehensive. Appropriate analysis and development methods have been used in the development work. The student uses his/her collaboration and communication skills appropriately in the community development process and decision making.
The student is able to contribute his/her own expertise to team work.
Course evaluation criterion, excellent (5)
The project work is fully in line with the given assignment and covers all aspects of the development project in a comprehensive manner. Makes systematic use of the different approaches to project management. In addition, the project team is able to select the appropriate analysis and development methods for the assignment and justify their selection. The student will make extensive use of his/her cooperation and communication skills in the community development process and in decision-making.
The student team is able to interpret and build a culture of collaborative development with other actors.
Course evaluation criterion, accepted
The student knows the basics of project and networking work. The student knows the basics of project work, but there is room for improvement in skills. Students is able to identify elements of their project and networking skills. Students will use their cooperation and communication skills and apply them in the development process and in decision making.

Assessment is focused on the work carried out during the course, the gained competence and knowledge upon the completion of the course, the outcomes of the project and meeting the project goals and creating innovative concrete and implementable solutions.
