Objective

The students know how to act in various communication and guidance situations in a manner which is language-aware and promotes equality. They know how to work in groups where the participants have diverse origins, different faith, convictions, customs and language proficiency levels. The students are able to utilize simple augmentative and alternative communication methods. The students can observe and examine the environments from a language-aware perspective. The students recognize the structural background of social inequality and are aware of power exercised in language and perspective choices. The students know the basics of anti-discriminatory pedagogy, as well as reporting and alleviating equality related problems. They know how to promote sustainable development in their practices.

Content

Language-aware expert work (language-aware guidance and development, support of language-aware workplace practices, awareness of everyday language choices and their consequences). Clear oral and written communication. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Promotion of inclusion in work communities (recognition of discrimination; consideration of intersectionality; anti-racist work approach). Development of equity-based operating practices.

The course includes 1 ECTS of mentoring international students during their internship.
