Objective

The students are familiar with the most important Finnish legislation guiding social services and the hierarchy of norms in social welfare. They are familiar with the overall social security system. The students recognize the client's resources and can draw up a client plan together with the client. The students are familiar with different models of service guidance. They can apply the regulations and key guidelines governing the work of Bachelors of Social Services.

Content

Social Welfare Act, Act on the Status and Rights of Social Welfare Clients, Act on Disability Services and Assistance. The service system in the work of a Bachelor of Social Services. The hierarchy of standards: constitution, general laws, special laws, decrees, instructions. A service user’s legal protections, reminders, complaints, and appeals. A service user’s responsibility, resources and network mapping. Assessment of service needs and models of service coordination. Persons in need of special support. Case planning. Documentation with the service user and processing documents.

Recognition of Previous learning /courses related to the topic needs to be submitted before the course starts. Do the RPL via Oma to the teacher.

In this course there are scheduled lectures/group works aprox. 42 hours (includes Moodle lecture + group study times)
Student need to read the materials during the course to be prepared for the exam count 4-6 hours per week for that (36hours)

Preparing your group for the simulation 6 hours (done in groups)
Client plan task 14 hours per student (independent task)

- Discuss about the content of the two previous lectures and write an 1 A4 wide page waht have been the main topic of the lectures, what you have learned and what you need to learn more by yourself submit to the teacher latest 30th of August. (From all these group activities combine 40% of the course grading based on how comprehensive reflection you have done around the given topic.)

- continue planning your simulation case together in a group how the client plan process can be seen in your case and look for tools for evaluation & clients network to support yous simulation

5.9.2024 klo 9.00-15.00 Working in a groups, familiarize and create a social security of your client
- Discuss about the content of the previous lecture and write an 1 A4 wide page what what you have learned and what you need to learn more by yourself submit to the teacher latest 18th of September.
- Create a poster about your clients social security (legislation, financial support, selvices available from the public sector + private/NGO sector)

Objective

All needs to be done to get passed. Participating into simulations is Mandatory.

Group assignments:
learning circle reflections (27.8., 5.9., 17.9., 1 paper from each as a group, what was the topic, what did you learned, what you need to study more)
Social security of your clients task (1 paper/poster)

From all these group activities combine 40% of the course grading based on how comprehensive reflection you have done around the given topic.

Individual assignments:
Client plan 2-3 pages, pass/ fulfill
EXAM 25.9. (60% of the course grading)
