Learning outcomes
After completing the course, student can create playable board game prototypes and they’ll have the tools to test and develop those further. They’ll also have a broad understanding of board game and analog game’s history and evolution providing a solid basis of understanding to build their own ideas further. This course will provide a framework basis to build on further with topics and themes that can be applicable in analog and digital games alike.
Content
Board Game Basics - course teaches you the backbone basics of board and analog games in general. The course’s creator and your mentor is an MA of Arts and Education with working experience from the game industry field. The course offers a broad look into the history of board games and the evolution of game pieces. The course also covers a broad spectrum of related topics from visual and physical components and how they relate to analog game design and development. You’ll have a chance to practice what you learn after every lecture with exercises and examples.

Evaluation criteria is embedded on the exercises and Final Project assignment that is a criteria of completing the course and receiving an evaluation. The student is expected to be able to follow the given task boundary conditions, and demonstrate an understanding of the elements and tools available while solving possible design problems creatively with the aid of testing.
