Objective

Student is able to make unit transformations and manipulate physical equations. S/he is able to describe the motion of a body computationally and graphically using kinematic quantities. S/he is able to present Newton’s laws and use them. S/he understands the concepts of work, power and energy and the conservation and conversion of energy. S/he knows the basic concepts, quantities and laws related to fluids and thermal physics. S/he understands the difference between temperature and thermal energy.

Content

Physical equations and unit conversions
Kinematics: position, displacement, velocity and acceleration
Dynamics: concept of force, types of force, free-body diagram, Newton's laws
Energy, work, power, and efficiency
Density, pressure, Archimedes’ law
Basics of fluid flow
Temperature scales and thermal expansion
Heat storage and phase change
